Presently enrolled in B.ed/B. Mus concurrent program in Music Education, classical piano concentration at McGill University
Background
I was born in St-Jacques-de-Montcalm, a small town in Lanaudiere on March 4th, 1989. I stayed there until I was 13, then I moved to the north shore of Montreal, in Lachenaie. I continued to go to school there, at Esther-Blondin College. While at school, I took piano lessons and I participated in the music option. I fell in love with music and decided to become a teacher. I decided to go to Vincent-d'Indy School of Music, where I graduated with a D.C.S. in Music and Languages. At McGill, I discovered conducting and plan on pursuing it professionally.
Interests, Activities and Plans
For the past year, I have worked at pursuing a musical career. The first production I worked on was "The Gondoliers", a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta produced in February 2012 by the McGill Savoy Society. I was Chorus Master: my job was to take charge of the chorus rehearsals, as well as help the Musical Director. Then, I was Assistant Musical Director for Musical Theatre Montreal's production of "Cabaret", produced in June-July 2012. Currently, I am Assistant Musical Director for this year's McGill Savoy Society's production of "Iolanthe". I also took a few masterclasses in conducting (Alain Cazes, with the McGill Wind Symphony and the Music of the Royal 22nd Regiment, Dr. Fraser Linklater with l'OVNI, as well as a 2-week training with Jonathan Dagenais at Camp Musical d'Asbestos).
When I am not in school or working, I like to do sports. I train in boxing once or twice a week. Also, I play touch-football in a friendly team. In the summer, I also love to play tennis. I also like to read, mostly french-canadian literature and cook.
I also enjoy spending time with my cat Samba (a big ball of black fur with paws) and my music friends.
Upon completion of my degree at McGill, I would like to go on a Europe trip with my friend Paige. I also want to continue working in musicals and operettas.
My main professional objective is to because a Musical Director on Broadway! Eventually, I would also like to complete a Master's degree in Wind Ensemble Conducting. I also want to become a high school teacher.
